剧情简介：H庄园的一次午餐剧情：DistantcousinsandchildhoodfriendsElinorCarlisleandRoddyWelmanarehappilyengagedtobemarried.OnedayElinorreceivesananonymousletterinthepost,claimingthatsomeoneistryingtheirhardesttoworktheirwayintotheaffection,andsubsequentlyalsobankaccount,ofherwealthyauntLauraWelman,whoispresentlybedriddenatherhomesinceafterastrokeandfromwhosedeathElinorandRoddybothexpecttoinheritalargefortune.Notknowingwhattomakeoftheletter,theyoungcoupleeventuallydecidetopayLauraavisitinordertoseeforthemselveswhatisreallygoingonatthehouse.Whentheyarrive,ElinorimmediatelybecomessuspicioustowardsMaryGerrard,thelodgekeepersdaughter,recentlyreturnedtoEnglandafterhavingstudiedinEuropeandwhomeveryoneelseatthehouseseemtoabsolutelydoteon.NooneelsehoweverseemtoshareElinorssuspicionsordislikeoftheyoungwoman,andinparticularnotRoddy,whomElinoronenightdiscoverskissingMaryGerrardinherauntsdrawingroom.WhenMarysuddenlyturnsupdead,poisonedbyasalmonsandwich,ElinorsdislikeofMarymakeshertheobvioussuspectandhardlyhastimetotakeinwhathashappenedbeforeshefindsherselfontrialandcondemnedformurder.TheonlypersonwhoisnotentirelyconvincedofElinorsguiltisDoctorPeterLord,whodecidestocontacthisoldfriendHerculePoirotinordertohelphimproveherinnocence.
